SimpleMonth ("we," "our," or "us") is a financial reconciliation application designed to help users manage their monthly finances. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, and protect your data.

What Data We Collect

We collect the following types of data:

  • Account Profile Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile information you provide.
  • Financial Data: You input financial data including:
    • Transaction records (date, amount, description, category)
    • Account information (account names, types, balances)
    • Categories and budgets you create
    • Financial goals and targets
    • Investment and crypto holdings
  • Imported Data: When you import CSV files, we store the transaction data you upload.
  • Bank Transaction Data (if enabled): If you enable bank sync features in the future, we may receive transaction metadata from your bank through a secure third-party service (such as Plaid). We do not store your bank login credentials.
  • Usage Data: We may collect information about how you use the application, such as which features you use most frequently, to help us improve the product.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to:

  • Provide App Functionality: To display your transactions, calculate balances, generate reports, and enable all features of the application.
  • Customer Support: To respond to your support requests and help you use the application.
  • Product Improvement: We may use aggregated, anonymized data to understand usage patterns and improve the application. This data cannot be linked back to you personally.
  • Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues.

What We DON'T Do

We are committed to your privacy:

  • We do not sell your personal financial data to third parties.
  • We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
  • We do not share your financial data with marketing companies.
  • We do not use your data to build profiles for third-party advertising.

Data Sharing

We share your data only with service providers necessary to operate the application:

  • Hosting Provider (Vercel): Our application is hosted on Vercel. They process your data as necessary to provide hosting services.
  • Database & Authentication (Supabase): We use Supabase for database storage and user authentication. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified and follows industry-standard security practices.
  • Bank Connectivity (Plaid, if enabled): If you enable bank sync, we use Plaid to securely connect to your bank. Plaid is a trusted financial services provider that handles bank connections securely. We do not receive or store your bank login credentials.
  • Analytics (if used): We may use analytics services to understand how the application is used. These services use aggregated, anonymized data.
  • Error Logging (if used): We may use error logging services to identify and fix bugs. These services may receive limited technical information about errors.

All service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.

You can request deletion of your account and data at any time from your Settings page or by contacting us at support@simplemonth.com.

Security Measures

We take security seriously:

  • All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
  • Data is stored securely in databases with access controls.
  • We use Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure each user can only access their own data.
  • We follow the principle of least privilege for system access.
  • We regularly update our systems and dependencies to address security vulnerabilities.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: You can access all your data through the application at any time.
  • Export: You can export your data to CSV format from the application.
  • Correction: You can update or correct your data at any time through the application.
  • Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and all associated data. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
  • Portability: You can export your data in a machine-readable format (CSV) at any time.

Cookies and Analytics

We use minimal cookies and analytics to understand how the application is used and to improve the user experience. We do not use cookies for advertising purposes.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect some functionality of the application.

Children's Privacy
